Why do I need a website?
The Internet is recognized as one of the most cost effective forms of advertising available. Almost every business will appear there soon with some form of website identity. And if you are not advertising your business online you can be sure that your competitors will.
What is the advantage of having a website?
Development and distribution costs are extremely low. When you compare the cost of establishing a website to what it costs to promote your business in print or on the air, you'll see that a website is the cheapest form of marketing ever created. Unlike radio, newspaper and magazine ads, a website has virtually limitless space. You could put up a website with dozens of photographs and several thousand words for much less than traditional forms of print advertising. What would it cost to run a newspaper ad of this size for a year? Imagine how much it would cost to produce a catalog for 200 different products and keep it in consumers' hands for an entire year. You can accomplish this with a website very easily with low development cost and almost no distribution cost.
A website is globally accessible, which means that your website can be viewed by anyone, anywhere, as long as they have Internet access. There are no physical limitations to broadcast areas as in radio, nor circulation region restrictions as in newspapers or magazines.
You can keep your website more current more affordably than any other media. You can update a website immediately and as often as you like. Imagine you sell products whose prices fluctuate. With a website, you can change these prices every time they go up or down, so your marketing materials are always accurate.
The little guys can compete with the big guys since a website is economical and not limited by size. This means a small business can present as large or creative an image on the Internet as a bigger company — with the right design team of course!
A website also allows easy, safe communication between you and the consumer so that anyone who visits your site can contact you at any time by sending an email. Unlike communications that originate from other forms of advertising, consumers who send emails don't have to deal with many problems of everyday business: aggressive salesmen, remembering to call during business hours, having to battle crowds to get to your store, spending time waiting on voice mail or getting the wrong information. It's convenient, easy, and safe for the consumer. Email is also convenient for you. You can respond to all your customer inquiries at the same time, and do it when you have a free moment — not in the middle of rush hour when someone calls up to ask for product information or directions to your location.
You can save money on tech support and answering questions. If your employees spend a lot of time answering the same questions and sending out the same material, you can reduce that labor and material cost significantly by providing that information on the website. A great example of this kind of saving is providing directions to your business on your website, along with business hours, contact names and numbers and answers to other commonly asked questions that take up so much of your (or your employees) time.
But most importantly, a website requires no salesmen manning the store, no utility bill, no insurance bill, no payroll or payroll tax ... computers don't need a benefit package or overtime. Every second of every day, your website is working for you for one low initial fixed price!
What are your competitors doing?
You'll be very lucky if your competitors have not already implemented a website. And if they have, then it is taking business away from you. Why not try a search at Google (one of the best search engines) to see what your competition is up to? It's a great way to get a feel for what is out there, what you like and dislike and how you'd like to establish your own online identity.
How long will it take to create my website?
For most clients your website can be up and running within about 3-days. Our website design questionnaire will help us determine exactly what information we need from you in order to establish your online identity quickly.
How much of my time will be needed during the design process?
72 Online’s website design process is not intrusive on your daily business activities. Initially we will need a couple of hours of your time to complete the website design questionnaire. This can be done after hours if you prefer. Once we have completed the design questionnaire you will only need to review the final website design once it has been completed.
When someone types “www.yourcompany.com” into their web browser or send e-mail to “email@example.com”, the Domain Name System (DNS) translates “yourcompany.com” into an IP number used by the Internet. An IP number is a specific address – like your home address – that enables someone to go specifically to your website and send email directly to you and no one else.
What is web hosting?
Just like your home has a physical location that is unique (ie. 123 Main Street), your domain name also needs a physical location to reside at. Web hosting is the computer where your website content lives. The specific computer that "hosts" your domain name can be located anywhere in the world as long as it is connected to the Internet. 72 Online provides that service to you free for the first year. After that it is only $72 per year. We will notify you when you need to renew your web hosting agreement after the first year.
What is E-Commerce?
How do I get started?
E-commerce simply means Electronic Commerce. It is the buzzword for the new millennium, and for very good reason. The Internet is changing the way business is done with literally billions of dollars being made using E-commerce to purchase products. E-commerce gives you the ability to accept payment over the Internet by either credit card or electronic checks. Through E-commerce, you can sell products or services instantly to anyone in the world without having to constantly monitor your website or email.
